Michele H. Cabrera
Michele Cabrera practices general litigation and concentrates on divorce and child custody matters. She is dedicated to providing strong advocacy for all clients. While Attorney Cabrera often assists clients in matters such as contract disputes and homeowners/condominium association matters, she primarily focuses her time on the firm’s domestic relations cases, assisting clients with all issues involving separation, divorce (contested and uncontested), child custody/support, and other marriage and family matters. She particularly enjoys the practice of family law because she is able to help individuals and families gain control over their future and affairs during confusing and difficult times in their lives. Her clients enjoy her passion and unique sensitivity to their individual cases.
In addition to her extensive trial and motions practice experience, Attorney Cabrera also negotiates agreements so that litigation and courtroom time is not always necessary. In fact, while her primary goal is to achieve maximum success for each client, she also strives to minimize the financial burdens associated with litigation. Attorney Cabrera also believes it is important to give back to the community and has, amongst other things, volunteered through the Montgomery County Bar Association’s Pro Bono Program to provide free legal advice in the evenings at the local area legal clinics. She is also certified as a child advocate and attends seminars offered through the local bar associations to continue her legal education.
Prior to joining this firm in 2005, Attorney Cabrera was an associate in the Washington D.C. office of the international law firm of Reed Smith, LLC, where she handled a variety of litigation matters. Attorney Cabrera earned her Bachelors of Arts degree in Political Science from James Madison University and completed her law degree at the Columbus School of Law, the Catholic University of America. Attorney Cabrera is admitted to the Maryland State Bar, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, the District of Columbia Bar, and the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. She is also a member of the Montgomery County Bar Association.
Prior to law school, Attorney Cabrera worked at the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office assisting the Domestic Violence Unit in prosecuting their cases and was a Certified Victim Advocate Volunteer. She is originally from Montreal, Canada.
